COMPOSTING IS COOL anywhere!
Because it's so easy!!! We just overcomplicate it in our minds.
I know you have heard me bang on about composting before, but I will continue to send you these reminders... because let’s be HONEST right now
Hangs up if you give up on trying to compost because you don’t know how to do it and it just feels TOO HARD!
NOT AT HOME SOLUTIONS:
My easiest recommendation is to Sharewaste.com and finds someone in your neighbourhood that has a compost bin that is willing to have you drop off your compost weekly at their house. I have a few people that come to the compost bins that I have never spoken to accept my initial email chat telling them it was okay for them to use it.
I also have 2 big bins at my house so for my students you can just bring it over when you come to class (NO EXCUSE)
TRAVELING SOLUTIONS:
Whilst on the road or going away for a holiday most places WON’T have compost bins. You will most likely fall back into NOT COMPOSTING but don’t.
• Bring a compost bin bag or any bag or even a bin like I have in these photos which lives in our Kombi van now.
• BRING YOUR COMPOST home with you!
• Find somewhere to bury it like we do when we are camping on the side of the road.
AT-HOME SOLUTIONS:
1. Dig a hole in the garden (FREE)
2. Worm farms - Never tried by having friends that do it and love it
3. Buy a secondhand compost bin on FB marketplace
4. Buy new bins start at $45-$200
5. Buy an indoor compost bin for those who live in apartments or can’t have a compost bin outside due to BEARS (YUP... I did say Bears as that is my mom’s excuse) living in Canada they are not allowed to compost as they attract black bears into their garden which is not ideal
6. INVEST in a modern compost called FoodCycler by @brevilleaus for $599 which turns food scraps into EcoChips in 4 hours
WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST:
• Because deep down you do want to be more eco-friendly but it just seems too hard when it’s not
• You are just making excuses to create a NEW GOOD ROUTINE in your lifestyle that will actually make you feel better that you are doing your part with your food waste.
• It might feel like hard work when you start but the more you do it... it will get easier I promise!
